I. INTRODUCTION
Traffic Report is a useful sysop utility for Wildcat 3.xx which tells
you when your board is the busiest. A screen is generated which
displays the percentage of calls your board receives based on hour and
day of the week. It does this by reading the ACTIVITY.xxx files.
NOTE: This version of Traffic Report only reads the ACTIVITY.001 file.
Future versions might be written for use with multi-node systems.
Here is a listing of the files included in this archive:
TRAFFIC.EXE - Executable portion of Traffic Report
TRAFFIC.DOC - File you are reading now
ORDERFRM.DOC - Registration Form
PROGS.TXT - List of other Wildcat utilities I have written
TRAFFIC.TXT - Sample ASCII file of Traffic Report screen
If any of these files are missing, or to get the latest version of
Traffic Report call my bbs, The Upper Limit BBS at (410) 860-0212.
II. RUNNING TRAFFIC REPORT
Before running this program, make sure it is in the same directory as
the ACTIVITY.xxx file, usually the main Wildcat directory.
To run the program, type the following at the DOS prompt:
TRAFFIC [/S]
Running the program will result in the creation of two new files:
TRAFFIC.BBS, which uses the Wildcat color codes, and TRAFFIC.TXT, which
is a plain ASCII file.
The /S parameter will allow you to save totals to a file called
"TRAFFIC.DAT." It is now possible to read these totals in from the
TRAFFIC.DAT file, in addition to reading the ACTIVITY.001 file. In
order to prevent totals from being added twice, the ACTIVITY.001 file
will be deleted upon completion of running Traffic Report if this
parameter is selected. If you want to maintain a collection of your
activity files, just add a line in your batch file to copy ACTIVITY.001
to another file, BEFORE it runs Traffic Report.
NOTE: If any parameter other than the one mentioned above is used, the
program will ignore them.
III. REGISTRATION
Traffic Report is not a free program. It is shareware. If you like
it, and continue to use it past 30 days, you are expected to register
it. Registration cost is only $5 US. Upon registering this program,
you will be sent the latest registered version, which will contain your
BBS name in the bulletin. Also, by registering, it will provide me
with encouragement and incentive to write more Wildcat! utilities.
Please refer to the file ORDERFRM.DOC for more information.
